How to cure the hangover after a party?
We have all experienced the mornings that follow nights where everything is a blur: faces, alcohol, music, and velvet ropes. We’ve all had days that were a blur of faces, drinks, music, and velvet ropes.
How can I feel better quickly? Can you really push yourself to the limit and still not feel the effects the next morning? Others believe it.
A few points to always keep in mind
- The best way to cure a hangover is to drink plenty of water, sleep well, rehydrate the following day, and take naps.
- There is no evidence that someone has died of a hangover. It will pass, just be patient.
- Many over-the-counter products can reduce the symptoms of a hangover if taken before or after alcohol consumption. Some are more effective than others. Your nightlife guide has tested them all.
What is a hangover?
The symptoms of a hangover can vary significantly from one person to another. They may range from an early morning headache, to a day-long urge to vomit to a feeling of “blah”. This is due to your body dehydrating, or even, strangely, a withdrawal reaction from the alcohol in your bloodstream. Why, sometimes, drinking more alcohol can make you feel better. The physical symptoms of a hangover are fatigue, headaches, increased sensitivity to light and noise, a weak stomach, nausea, and lack of appetite.
QUICK WAYS OF AVOIDING THEM
- Know your limits. Don’t drink too much.
- Snack on food throughout the evening and before going out.
- Between drinks, drink from a water bottle.
- Before you leave, buy over-the-counter products to help prevent a hangover.
- Before going to bed, take a few Ibuprofen.
- Do not agree to visit a strip club after 5 AM.
What can you do about it now?
- Do not drink coffee in the morning.
After a heavy night out, many drinkers rush to Starbucks to get a cup of coffee. This is not a great idea if you’re feeling bad. If you drink coffee with dairy, it will dehydrate you even more.
- Make sure you drink plenty of water.
Imagine yourself in the middle of the desert, about to drown from dehydration. It would feel like an awful hangover. Alcohol crosses the wires in your body and causes you to dehydrate despite the amount of fluids you’ve consumed. It is vital to drink water or other liquids to relieve the symptoms of a hangover. Drink water right before bed and throughout the day.
- Have a few Ibuprofen.
They are used to treat headaches, soreness, and pain. If you suspect that you may still be consuming alcohol, avoid taking any products containing Acetaminophen (found in Tylenol). It can be dangerous, and in rare instances, your liver could explode out of your body. Do we really want to do that?
- Eat something if you can.
You might not be able to eat until 2 pm or even 3 pm, but you must ingest something as quickly as possible. You can start with toast, fruit, or any food that contains protein. If you still feel queasy after eating, you should take things slowly, or else you’ll vomit your brains. Again.
- Sleep more.
This may or may not be possible depending on your reason for being in Las Vegas. If you have a headache and go to sleep with it, then dream of a better place, when you wake up, your body will feel the same as when you were in your mother’s womb. Sounds relaxing, doesn’t it?
- Exercise
Doing the impossible is a great way to get rid of a hangover. You can run, do weights, go hiking, or lift heavy objects.
